[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

09:35 First true day of vacation.  Didn't get up until 08:10, way late for me.

One of Jo's writing classmates called to say the library in Sallisaw is having a book sale, so I'm going to make it a point to wander over there and see what's available.  We'll see how the day goes.

Happy Birthday to Me!

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Well I don't feel any older.  But, according to the calendar it's my 46th birthday.

Spent the day doing chores around the house and yard.

Yesterday our landlord's son used their brushhog attachment and cleared the far back section of the yard over by the turnabout for the driveway.  The propane tank is in that area along with the scrap metal supply that a previous renter had collected for his welding hobby.  This makes cutting the grass in that area with a lawn mower quite risky, the brushhog didn't like what it found in the tall grass either.  Part of today's chores consisted of raking up the cut weeds and getting a clear path to the propane tank, the propane dealer was supposed to come by today and refill the tank.  Never showed, it's their busy season.

Tomorrow I'm going in to Muskogee to have lunch with one of my friends from my former workplace.  It will be good to catch up on events in the last few months.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Had an enjoyable lunch with Bruce Bradford, my former co-worker at ORS / NASCO / UNIDARE.  Much good to report for the survivors of the old business, making money in spite of the best efforts of the MBA's to mis-manage it.  Actually, what they've done is lay off personnel and cut the business's operations to the point where it's profitable, it has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the MBA's alleged managment skills.  I've been in the trenches, and sorry, but no way can a person with an MBA run a business as well as those that are already running it.  The only thing that they can do is wave their diploma at top managment and use it to undermine / override / drive out the existing managment team.

I've been an opponent of credentialism in American society since the early 80's when I realized that CPA's, my career path at that time, we're nothing more than a pack of high paid liars.  The ones I had contact with used their "Certification" to legitimize corporate theft.

This is why I like computers, they are basically impossible to "lie" to.  They just won't work unless you do things right.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Missed the eclipse last night, 100% cloud cover and thunderstorms.  I couldn't talk anyone into standing in the rain and thunder to maybe see a glimpse of the eclipse.  Can't imagine why.

Propane Guy came yesterday afternoon while I was out, naturally.  I gave Jo the check I'd put aside to pay for the propane and he loaded up the tank with 60 gallons.  That ran almost exactly $100, they charge more if you don't buy a minimum of 150 gallons.  With prices like they are now I'd rather take the lower amount and pay a littel more, then maybe in the spring, when we need another recharge, the prices will have gone down some.  They had better or whoever is in the White House will be being roasted slowly, the american people will put up with high fuel prices for only so long.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Took two of the boys, oldest & youngest, to the Tulsa Zoo.  ( Middle boy had the bug that everyone else had last week. )  It's a very nice Zoo, they've replaced almost all of their exibits / buildings since the mid-80's.  The only problem is that the Zoo is too small for them to have as many animals as you would expect.  Since the Zoo is located in a large public park in an undeveloped section of the city, I don't see why it isn't quite a bit larger.  I believe there are property ownership & use issues between the Zoo and the Park.  Anyway, we had a blast.

After we left the Zoo we went to the Spaghetti Warehouse in downtown for supper.  Since Jo & Kevin discovered that Tulsa had one of these restaurants it's rapidly become the place to go eat when we are in Tulsa.

Tonight Daylight Savings Torture, er... Time,  ends.  I'm not a fan of DST, I think that if the hours of the day are going to be adjusted then they should be adjusted once and LEFT ALONE.  This up one hour and back one hour business causes all manner of problems, accidents, and stress on people.  Just for the sake of more efficent use of Daylight hours in the summer, it's a load of crock.

As Jo says, " That's another reason you'll never be allowed near the 'controls' of the U. S."
