| Bact to work. Vacation's over. We didn't get our birthday dinner in yesterday. It was raining hard with thunderstorms nearly all day. Jo declared it too messy to fool with, we will just go another time. Tomorrow is election day, I still don't understand Oklahoma's districting where my poling place is in the town to the north of us, Warner, and Jo & Kevin's is in the town to the south of us, Porum. Their voter registration cards show our RR Box along with the county land survey description as the address, mine shows the actual physical road directions to the house without the RR Box. Go figure. | I
rolled out of bed at 6:45
and drove to the polling place ( Warner Public Library ) arriving at
7:10. Voted using the Mark sense style ballot, talleyed as # 12. The election workers noted that it ususally takes until noon to get to 10 votes in my new voting district ( A Rural area between the two small cities of Warner & Porum ). There are only a couple hundred registered voters in the district, as opposed to 1000 or so in the City of Warner proper where we used to vote. I'm glad that's over with! Thanks to a foul up in the registration process Jo gets to vote in Porum rather than Warner. It seems that our house is on the border between two of the rural voting districts, and the registrar in Muskogee County can't make up her mind which one we are in. ( We're also on the border between School Districts and Telephone Exchanges. ) I think we are both going to have to go in person to the registrar's office in Muskogee to get this fixed. And so Jo voted this afternoon. [Top] |

| Stayed up way too late last night, really wanted
to see if the election was going to turn into another Dance of the
Lawyers from Hell. Never got around to posting either. Anyway, Bush was declared winner this morning after Kerry conceeded. It was pretty obvious that he'd won about midnight last night, but the networks were too gun shy to predict it. I guess they were burned too badly in 2000, not to mention this year's exit polls which were way off base. I can't say all the people I voted for won, nor did the state questions I voted against fail and I did abstain in one race as none of the candidates were acceptable - you can do that in Oklahoma. We all made the effort and voted. That's what counts. [Top] |

| It's interesting now to look at the various web
logs that people keep, those that supported Kerry are going thru denial
/ withdrawl right now. I see that the Bush supporters are
satisfied, though none of the ones I read are into gloating. I had one of those "Touch it, Break it." days, some of my work projects gave me fits. I even caused all the people logged into Terminal Services out of Colorado to loose their connections, twice. All because I accessed a VPN that I'd used before without harm. I ended the day with a program that takes a command to post one item to an order and doubles the quantity, even though the correct number is IN THE COMMAND for all to see. I decided to stop at 5:30, that particular problem wasn't going to be solved today. [Top] |

| Whew, I thought this week would never end. Finally found the problem I was working on late yesterday, seems the posting program was being run twice. It was supposed to display the SQL command twice if this happend, thing was it was overwriting the first display with the second. I never saw it. Took running a command trace on SQL server to find out what was really going on. We've got a barn owl in the barn. ( Ok, I know that looks strange in print, but it's true. ) It flew over me and one of the dogs while we were walking down the driveway to get the mail night before last. This morning the dogs brought up the remains of our resident genea hen. She had been roosting in the barn since spring of 2003, but the owl was big enough to do her in. From what I saw of him he has a wingspan of at least three feet. If he starts harrassing the cats, as has happend before, we will have to get in touch with the Connors State College's wildlife people and see if they can relocate him. Owls will attack cats, this is not always fatal to the cat and is sometimes fatal to the owl. Our large tom cat was attacked by a similar barn owl two years ago, he came away with deep cuts in his back and his tail was dislocated. There was no more sign of the owl, however. [Top] |

| Went to see "The Incredibles" with the boys
yesterday. A really good movie, I think the Pixar people have the
CG Animation down pat. Good story as well, so it's no surprise
that the move had a record weekend box office take. Mowed the back yard, removed the air conditioners from the front of the house, and did some general yard clean up. The front and west yards were just too wet to mow still, I hope they will be dryer tomorrow as we are due some more rain starting Tuesday. [Top] |
